Kreuzwertheim/Vaterstetten – As of September 1, 2025, the Kreuzwertheim-based mechanical engineering group Kurtz Ersa has taken over the operations of ATV Technologie GmbH, an equipment manufacturer based in Vaterstetten near Munich that had filed for insolvency. This marks a long-anticipated strategic step for Kurtz Ersa into the market for production systems for the semiconductor industry. All ATV employees will be retained. Moving forward, ATV will operate under the name Kurtz Ersa Semicon GmbH.
The company specializes in developing and selling high-quality vacuum soldering systems, renowned for precise temperature control and exceptional homogeneity – both essential for the stringent requirements of the semiconductor and microelectronics industries. Its interdisciplinary team of engineers, physicists, and experts in precision mechanics and electrical engineering delivers customized solutions for universities, research institutes, laboratories, and leading production companies.
For series production, ATV developed the SRO-i-Line, which, thanks to its innovative infrared heating principle, offers significant advantages for semiconductor manufacturing – especially in emerging future markets such as e-mobility, renewable energy, and defense. With this acquisition, Kurtz Ersa moves a step upstream within the electronics production value chain.
Through Kurtz Ersa’s global sales, service, and production network, new opportunities are opening up for ATV’s technology and workforce. The aim of the new product segment – as with all Kurtz Ersa segments – is to assume a leading position in the relevant market. Plans include modularizing, expanding, and globally marketing the product portfolio. The first appearance of the new Kurtz Ersa Semicon GmbH is scheduled for November at the Productronica trade fair in Munich.
Thomas Mühleck, CEO of the Kurtz Ersa Group, sees ATV’s expertise as “the perfect entry into the semiconductor industry, which has been part of our strategic roadmap for some time. The high technological know-how of the workforce is a perfect match for our ambition to be the number one in our markets for sustainable production solutions.”
Dr. Michael Fischer, CEO EPE and head of the “Electronics Production Equipment” business unit at Kurtz Ersa, views ATV technology as “the perfect nucleus for our entry into the semiconductor world. The strong technological competence offers us the opportunity to generate significant growth through our global Kurtz Ersa network. Potential synergies also exist in the automation expertise already present within the group, for upstream and downstream processes in semiconductor manufacturing. I am very much looking forward to the next steps and am convinced that ATV’s technology will become an integral part of Kurtz Ersa in the future.”
Kurtz Ersa is a globally operating, family-owned mechanical engineering company. With development, production, sales, and service locations in Germany, China, the USA, Mexico, Singapore, India, France, and Romania, its 1,600 employees generate annual sales of around €300 million from sustainable production equipment and automation solutions for various industries, consistently holding leading market positions.
